Hello!

Thank you for visiting my page.

Currently, I am a Research Scientist-I working at the David Skaggs Research Facility in Boulder, CO. I work with the Unified Forecast System for high-resolution modeling of wildfire smoke transport and dispersion.

I did my Ph.D. in 2020, in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) under the guidance of Dr. Kiran Bhaganagar. I joined UTSA in the Fall of 2015 and have worked on a variety of projects. I implemented buoyant plume transport in the WRF-ARW model by adding gas buoyancy as a new variable to the LES framework.

I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Illinois State Water Survey group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2020-2023, and worked on cold nocturnal flows and cloud-microphysics of lake effect storm systems.

I am always eager to meet new people and discuss ideas or talk about life in general.  Feel free to contact me.

My research interests include

  • High-resolution modeling of Wildfire smoke transport and dispersion using the Unified Forecast System (UFS)

  • Testing aerosol-cloud parameterization in the UFS framework

  • Use of in-situ and remote sensing data to study environmental flows at various scales

  • Numerical Simulation of Extreme events and Atmospheric Boundary Layer Flows

  • Code modifications for Weather Research & Forecast (WRF) model to simulate atmospheric flows

  • Use of mobile sensors for Data Assimilation of Meteorological Parameters

  • Large-Eddy Simulations of buoyant flows in a controlled environment

  • Experiments on the release of buoyant forced plumes inside a calm and controlled environment

Online coursework and Certificates earned

  • Python for Data Science and AI (IBM) [credential]

  • Wind Resources for Renewable Energy (École Polytechnique) [credential]

I did my Masters in Ocean Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology at Madras (IITM) in the year 2012. There, I worked on hydrodynamic design and fabrication of an Autonomous Underwater Glider under the supervision of Dr. V.G. Idichandy.

The glider, as shown in the picture, was successfully built and deployed in our department's 3m wave tank.
